Joan and Family,
We are deeply saddened by Jim's passing. His dedication, sense of humor and commitment to Oakland was very much appreciated.
I personally had the honor of working side by side with Jim on the Oakland Board of Education for 9 years. His teamwork, friendship and guidance were special.
Our prayers are with all of your family.

I am pleased and blessed by having Jim Mulcahy as a colleague and friend.. My journey through life was enriched by our friendship.
Jim was a visionary leader. He defined the essence of quality leadership as a deep and abiding faith in the people. I once heard Jim define his leadership style as: "Leadership is all about accepting new and exciting challenges that in the resolve improves the life style of a community." As a member of the Oakland Board of Education Jim was an advocate of "Children First." He consistently encouraged and supported educational policies that assured a positive learning experiences for all children.
