Mulcahy, James E. 80, a resident of Oakland NJ for 49 years, passed away on March 22, 2015 from Congestive Heart Failure. Mr. Mulcahy was the beloved husband of 54 years to his wife Joni, loving father of Pam Masarwa and her husband, Rachman; James Mulcahy and his wife, Lisa; Tom Mulcahy and his wife, Regina, cherished grandfather (PA) of Mathew, Kyle, Zachary, and Gabriel, dear brother of George Mulcahy and Bill Mulcahy, and proud uncle of many nieces and nephews. For 43 years, Mr. Mulcahy worked as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch, Pierce and Fenner, retiring in 2010. Early in his career, he gave the nightly stock report on Oaklands Cable News channel, and gave a daily stock report on WMCA radio. He was a devout Christian and former parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help church in Oakland. A proud veteran who served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was also an avid New York Football Giants fan and season ticket holder for almost 60 years. He also enjoyed playing the game of golf. Mr Mulcahy was an active volunteer throughout his life. He served as a Councilman in Oakland for 6 years, and through hard work and determination got the state funding necessary to build a state of the art police station in 1978. He was the president of the Ramapo Mountain Lakes Country Club, coached recreational basketball, served as a member of the Oakland Board of Education for 18 years, and co-founded the Oakland Education Foundation.
A Funeral Service is planned for Saturday, March 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church., 25 Purdue Ave., Oakland. Interment will follow at Mary Rest Cemetery, Mahwah. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 26, from 2-4 and 7-9, and Friday, March 27 from 2-4 and 7-9, at the Oakland Memorial Funeral Home Memorial donations may be made to Valley Hospice, 15 Essex Rd, Paramus NJ 07652
