I had heard you passed and it's taken me a few days too process it. 10 years older than me but always working out and in shape. You took care of yourself and it was inspiring. Work 2 jobs in your early 50's and work out 4 days a week. I never thought you would call me one day and give me this horrible news. If anyone could kick its ass I thought it was you friend. You were one of my absolutely favorite employees and people in my life for 7 1/2 years and I became really good friends with you. Tony delivered pizza for me at Torino Pizza in Rochelle Park since the day I bought it til after I walked out of it for the last time. You stuck with me and helped me through some tough times in my life. The laughter and jokes we shared alone I will cherish that spirit you had forever more. We watched 7+ years of baseball together of every game we could while working. Our texts were all baseball and about each other's day. Great dark sided humor. We used too rock out every night and play The Who your favorite band most nights or Alice in Chains while cleaning up. Either that or I made you re-live the grunge era daily at my Pizzeria. We broke bread nightly for years with my mother and friends. You were one of the main people my customers interacted with on a daily basis. You were great at it except when something big baseball wise was on tv.. then the customer had too wait.... lol.. such fun times.. I just miss our banter daily. Any one that really knows Tony knew he had very very little filter. We talked our politics and about history. I admired the fact that he was so well versed on American history and took a lot of pride being an American. Yiu were also one of the smartest baseball fans I ever met. Definately one of the most passionate. Our conversations about sports were just so enjoyable. He knew everything about the US presidents. Or the time we drove down 4 hours each way too Baltimore and sat front row in Camden yards too see Jeter with the Yankees one last time just too go too experience that ballpark together. I won't ever forget that. Damn game rained out with a Yankee loss after the 5th and we were absolutely soaked searching for the car in the pouring rain too drive back wet. Well the Stadium was cool but the company in the car was far far better. You were an amazing driver. Of course you did it for a living. Day and night. Tony you and I had lots in common and lots of fun working together and what I considered too be very good friendship that I will forever cherish. I was fortunate too be in the messenger circle at least weekly if not daily with you for the past decade. A few weeks back I told Tony how much I appreciated, respected, and loved him. I told him too keep fighting and we had baseball games too go see. He said he was trying but he was tired. Rest now friend. Your spirt will always bring me too smile and laugh even though at the moment tears pour from my soul and eyes. I miss you already so much pal. It feels like forever even if it's been a day or two since you passed. This picture is the last time we had lunch 15 or 16 months ago. Several weeks before your diagnosis. Thanks Tony for the friendship and for being such an honest good worker for me. I valued it more than I can ever explain and I will sincerely miss you. Sorry for everyone's loss and for going on such a long rant but I could go on forever telling you what a good man Tony Gaul was. Rest in peace friend. ❤

With heavy heart, I say goodbye to my brother Tony. A gentle soul and our Warrior with his courage, fight, and positive attitude to his caretakers and staff at Hackensack Medical as well the doctors, nurses and staff, our family will forever be in your debt for your professional support and kindness. Tony really did love his nieces and nephews. Many years ago, he took my son Jimmy to a Mets game. Jimmy thought it was the coolest day ever because Uncle Tony “managed” to move them from their seats to seats on the third base line. Jimmy was so excited when he got home!

One of my favorite memories of spending time with Uncle Tone was when he brought home his Camaro with the T-tops. He was so cool, but wasn’t too cool to hang out with us. He drove us around town blasting his favorites, Van Halen , The Who & Bob Segar. He had the most amazing sense of humor and the biggest heart.
