To the Gallup family. I am so sorry for your loss. I knew both of your parents through the Oakland Fire Department, as a son of a fellow volunteer. Through the years your Dad was one of the kindest men I have ever met. He always took the time to say hello and talk to me, as a pre-teen and teenager while I was hanging around my father at either the firehouse, carnival or the softball games against the Oakland police in the early 1960's. He was very compassionate when my father passed away in 1995, and helped coordinate the Fire Department's roll in his funeral. Your Mom was the same, she arranged the Fire Department's repast at the "Yawpo House" when my Mom passed away in 2003. You were truly blessed to have wonderful parents, and as time passes will be able to focus on how lucky you were to have had them in your lives. God Bless
Bill Woodward

Mr Gallup was my nieghbor growing up my entire childhood. In addition to being grateful for his Rec Summer Camp & Canteen Programs he also engendered in me a love for RVs. The Gallups always had a big, beautiful, very well maintained camper in their driveway and Mr Gallup would give me tours inside every once in awhile. He also made great pool parties for his family. Now that I think about him, I wonder how much of his influence was part of my decision to become a full time summer camp director, #CGIPoconos. RIP Mr Gallup.

My heartfelt condolences to Joe’s children and grandchildren. Your Dad and Grandfather was a wonderful man and role model to the countless number of people he touched as an educator, fireman and civic leader.
Mr. Gallup was my 8th grade Science and home room teacher. Now, some 54 years later, his wisdom, humor and kindness still instruct me. I am lucky to have known him.
May he Rest In Peace.

Joe was my science teacher in middle school - intelligent, patient, sense of duty and humor both very strong.
I visited him in the Fireman's home with a friend from that same school - I'm so glad we had some time with him.
My condolences - I thought he was one of the best teachers and influences of my life.

The Moskal Family is heartbroken by this sad news. Our daughters, Rebecca and Jaclynn, were in his classes and always said he was the “best teacher ever”. As parents, my husband and I always looked forward to speaking with him at Back To School Nite.
Our condolences to all his family. May he rest in eternal peace.

Mr. Gallup was promoting STEM before it was called STEM. He inspired me to enter a science fair. He made me love science. I won the science award. I went on to study medicine. And all that for a girl born in the 50's. Thank you Mr. Gallup. May you rest in peace. And may your family rest assured that you were my inspiration.
