Mary Ellen Kautz, 72, of Wayne, NJ passed away on December 26, 2018. The funeral service 

will be held at St Mary’s Church in Pompton Lakes on December 31st at 11:30. Visitation will be 

held at Oakland Memorial Home on December 30th from 1-5.


 

Mary Ellen Kautz was born in Trenton, NJ to Gennaro and Vera Festa on October 22, 1946. She 

went to high school at Cathedral and graduated in 1964. She went on to earn a degree in history 

from Caldwell University in 1968. She worked as a teacher in the Jersey City school district and 

then became a homemaker after her daughter was born. She enjoyed traveling and spending time 

with her husband of 25 years and playing with her grandchildren who were precious to her. 


 

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband Paul Kautz of Wayne. Daughter Lisa Sullivan (Patrick, Kaitlyn, 

Colin), sister Carol Beals (Cass, Amit and Rebecca, Alok and Sarah, Rishi), brother Gerald Festa (Jan, 

Michael, Ryan), sister-in-law Mary Ann Lovallo (Paul, Alex, Amanda and Adam), sister-in-law Jackie

Kypers (Ken, Neil, Ryan, Tyler, Gary), mother-in-law Rose Kautz, and many good friends. She is 

preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law Paul Kautz. 


 

Memorial donations in Mary Ellem's name made to The American Cancer Society at Cancer.org, would be appreciated by the family
