Obituary of Erwin Fischer Jr.
~~Erwin (Bud) Fischer died on September 27, 2017 at the age of 92 after suffering a massive stoke on August 23rd. He is survived by his adoring wife of 63 years, Anna Mae (Ann) Fischer. Also survived by his daughter Janice Varandas, son in-law David Varandas, and sister Joan McKenzie. He is predeceased by his son Robert (Bob) Fischer.
Bud served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean war. In WWII Bud served on the USS Denver CL58 and then on the USS Sarsfield DD-837 during the Korean war. After the Navy Bud was employed by IBM as a Field Engineer and Installation Planning Representative until his retirement in 1986.
Bud was formerly a resident of Oakland NJ until he and Ann retired to Port Orange Florida. During his residence in Oakland NJ, Bud volunteered by teaching Life Saving to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. After his retirement Bud enjoyed wood working and made honor flag cases and medal cases for veterans.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either St Jude’s Children Hospital or Wounded Warriors. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Oakland Memorial Home from 2:00 – 5:00.
