Marilyn Fitzgerald, 65, of Oakland, NJ passed away on Thursday, June 22nd surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband John, son Patrick, and daughter Brittany. 

She is the daughter of Robert and Charlotte Bausinger. Born in Syracuse, NY, raised in Waldwick, NJ, graduates of Trumbull High School, CT, and Montclair State University. 

She was a Family and Consumer Science Teacher for 40 years, 25 of which were at Mahwah High School. She continued teaching as a substitute until the very end. 

Her passions included spending hours in her gardens and traveling up and down the East Coast with many fond memories at her favorite place, Kirk Kove, Canada. While on her journey she enjoyed hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, skiing, boating, and snowmobile riding. 

Marilyn is a loving wife and mother. Her pride and joy are her two kids. She was an active member of her children’s lives, volunteering as Girl Scouts troop leader and coaching soccer and t-ball. She will be remembered by her devotion to her family. She had an infectious smile and corny/sarcastic sense of humor. Marilyn is deeply loved and greatly missed. 

Marilyn had a hard fought battle with cancer. Her family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Morristown Hospital for their kindness, patience, and support. 

Funeral services will be held at Oakland Memorial Home on Sunday from 12pm - 4pm with a service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Marilyn’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
