Obituary of Meta M. Franke

Please share a memory of Meta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Franke, Meta Mueller 79, of Oakland, New Jersey, passed away on April 16, 2016 after a short and unexpected illness, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Franke was born on December 29, 1936 in Bremen-Blumenthal, Germany. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 15 as an orphan following World War II. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Horst Franke, two sons Frederick and Robert, Daughters-in-law Lisa Franke and Stephanne Franke, and four grandchildren: Tyler, Jessica, Alexandra and Natalie Franke. Mrs. Franke was employed for over twenty years in the Ramapo/Indian Hills School district and was, at both schools, known and loved by students and faculty alike. Friends, neighbors, and students from the Oakland and Franklin Lakes area will remember Meta for her kindness, warmth, heart, and compassion. She had the ability to touch people's souls, make them feel at home, and encourage them to appreciate life. To her husband, there will never be anyone like his true love. To her sons, there will never be anyone who could compare to their mom. To her daughters-in-law, there will never be anyone quite like their second mother. To her grandchildren, there will never be another "Oma." She will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 20 at 7:30 PM. Family and friends may visit from 4:00-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, New Jersey 07436. All who knew and loved Mrs. Franke are welcome to attend the service and remember her remarkable life.
