Timothy William McDonough, 73, of Oakland, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family on February 5, 2024.

Tim was born in Saddle Brook, New Jersey to Thomas and Helen McDonough.  He attended Paramus Catholic High School, graduating in 1969. A talented athlete, Tim played football, basketball, and ran track for the Paladins.

Tim went to the University of Southern Connecticut, where he graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

Tim was owner and proprietor of McDonough’s Harp and Fiddle Pub in Teaneck, NJ, for many years, before entering the fragrance and flavors industry.  He was still employed at ADM Specialty Ingredients, as a Strategic Account Manager, at the time of his death.

Tim was an avid New York Giant and Notre Dame fan and a long-time coach in baseball and soccer in Oakland. He was still officiating track and field events throughout Bergen County and was a member of the Franklin Lakes YMCA.

A track and field scholarship fund is being set up in Tim’s name at Paramus Catholic. Details will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the scholarship fund.  At this time please contact Diane McDonough at 201-965-4188, if you are interested in contributing to the scholarship fund.

Tim was the epitome of a “People Person,” comfortable in any social situation. His stories, quick wit, charming personality and great laugh endeared him to many people. Most of all, he loved family. He was in his element at large family gatherings. The more the merrier, and he made sure everyone felt welcomed.

He will be greatly missed.
