Obituary of Julie Mott

Please share a memory of Julie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mott, Julie Ann 45, of Pompton Plains, NJ (formerly Oakland, NJ), passed away peacefully on October 18 after suffering a brain hemorrhage early the previous Sunday morning. She was surrounded by family and friends. A beloved aunt, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Julie will be remembered as a talented woman with a kind heart who courageously battled illness and filled the world with her humor and boundless spirit. She will be recalled for her selfless love of her nephews and true love of her entire family. After the passing of Julie's beloved sister Nancy two and a half years ago, Julie began raising Nancy's three beautiful boys - Will, Brendan and Tristan. A hero and fighter, Julie was the 8th person on medical record to survive a liver transplant followed by a stem cell transplant for the treatment of Leukemia. Ironically, it was the stem cells of her deceased sister Nancy (also a cancer survivor) that saved her life. As a survivor, her unstoppable spirit was an inspiration to many. Julie was the featured spokesperson in an ad campaign for the HUMC, her cancer treatment center. The campaign was seen on billboards placed all over the Tri-state area including Giants Stadium; home to her beloved football team. A gifted artist and talented advertising professional, Julie was a Senior Designer at Vision Creative Group in Cedar Knolls, NJ. She received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland College Park in Advertising Design in 1992. Those who knew Julie recall a woman with a true wit and sense of humor. Her love of 80's music never waned and she still proudly loved Duran Duran and Bruce Springsteen. A longtime dog owner and animal lover she was an advocate for animal rights- her love for her dog Rosie known by all. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by all who were lucky enough to be a part of her life. She is survived by her nephews Will (17), Brendan (15) and Tristan (15) Liebenow; parents Lorraine and Edward Mott; brother Edward Mott and wife Heather Irish and their five children Katy, Aidan, Aran, Maggie and Charlie; plus many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Mott-Liebenow, who passed away in March of 2011. Julie's celebration of life will include a visitation on Sunday Oct. 27, from 3 to 7 pm at Oakland Memorial Home located at 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Monday Oct. 28 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 155 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Liebenow Boys Education fund http://tinyurl.com/liebenowboys http://www.goodcounsel.org/.
