Shine, Arthur age 85 of Oakland, NJ born in Brooklyn, NY to Arthur Shine and Florence (nee Braunworth) on 9/23/1927. He graduated Grover Cleveland High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He married Claire (nee Jacques) in 1955. He was a devoted husband and father. Survived by his wife Claire. Devoted children Arthur G. and his wife Toni Anne, Andrew and Claudia Manfred. Cherished grandchildren Christian and Rachel Manfred and Michael Shine. He was active in Civil Defense group under Ben Wood. As an electronic technician for Kearfott for 39 years he worked on a rocket that was sent to the moon. It took samples of the surface and Arthur’s name is on a plaque that is still there. A devoted catholic he helped fund raiser to build O.L.P.H Church. His Membership includes a charter member of Ramapo Valley Council 5846 and past Grand Knight and a fourth degree member of the Joseph F. Lamb Assembly. For 20 Years he was financial secretary of Ramapo Valley Council 5846. The Oakland Senior Center membership was very important to him and he helped in many ways in the activities they engaged in. Presently he attends Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes, NJ. Arthur has a brother Richard and his wife Marge, a sister Janet Lange both of Florida. Also many nieces and nephews in the US and Canada. Funeral Liturgy will be on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 10 AM Followed by a private cremation. Relatives and friends may visit at the Oakland Memorial 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, NJ. on Friday February 22, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM In lieu of flowers Donations can be made to The Oakland First Aid Squad or the Oakland Public Library.
