Otto, Helen (nee Goldberg) passed away peacefully on December 2, 2012. She was 96. Born October 16, 1916 in Paterson, NJ, Helen lived most of her life in Oakland where she was very active in many of Oakland’s civic and social organizations. She was a member of the Womans Club of Oakland, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Oakland Volunteer Fire Department, the Oakland Arts Club, the Oakland Senior Citizens Club, the Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Hospital Auxiliary. Helen was a past member of the Board of Trustees at the Oakland Public Library and she was a current member of the Board of Trustees of the West Bergen Mental Healthcare Foundation. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Irving Otto. She is survived by 2 nieces, Barbara Scola of Mendham, NJ, and Jane Ann Cohen of Princeton, NJ, and 8 grand-nieces and nephews, Bruce Scarola of Tampa, FL, Scott Roth of Brookville, NY, Jamie Scarola of Apollo Beach, FL., Eric Roth of Plainview, NY, Barrie Schwartz of San Diego, CA, Caryn Bergenfeld of Smithtown, NY, Randall Goldflam of The Colony, TX, and Hal Goldflam of Valencia, CA. A private Memorial Service will be held for Family and close friends. All are welcome to remember Helen at a reception in her memory on December 16 at 12:30 at Novelli Restaurant, Wayne, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in her name to the West Bergen Mental Healthcare Foundation.
