Obituary of Gloria C. Huke

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our much beloved and wonderful mom, Gloria Christine Huke, age 91 who passed away Wednesday night, December 5.

There will be a memorial service for Mom on Monday, December 17 at 10:30 am at Cedar Crest Chapel, 1 Cedar Crest Drive, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444. Directing following the service, light refreshments will be served. A repast will be held at 30 Chuckanutt Drive, Oakland, NJ 07436.

Our mom was, to be sure, one of a kind, talented, beautiful, loving and spirited!

We are grateful for the way all of you have touched Mom's life with your love, her children Chris, Brad and Jan.

Gloria was born in and lived in Westfield NJ.  She graduated Penn Hall, PA.  She met her husband John (Jack) through her brother Walt while they both attended Lafayette College, PA.  Jack and Gloria were married 70 years.  Most of their life they lived in Port Washington, Long Island which they loved very much.  She was a beloved piano teacher, using the Robert Pace method of which she was trained at SUNY Purchase. She inspired many a student to successful musical careers. Gloria was a dedicated organist, played at many churches and synagogues but most notably St. Stevens Episcopal Church and Port Jewish in Port Washington.  She loved the salt water: swimming, sailing, and sculling mornings with her women companions.  Gloria and Jack loved to travel the world over but what they loved most was spending time with their family during August vacations at Cape Cod.

Gloria is survived by her husband Jack, children Christine, Bradley and Jan, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
