George and I were co-worker, Field Engineers at Bendix Corp Teterboro, NJ. The Bendix PB-20 Autopilots and Compass Systems on new B-707's and L-188 Electras's were the company products we supported meeting flight crews of every world airline carrier landing in three NYC area airports. I recall George driving a white MG. I've been to his home in Oakland, played tennis there. I recall the stories George told about being a teenager enlisting in RCAF flying a Tiger Moth hoping to fly a SPIT. 'Fellow well met' was one of George's expressions. I think it fitting now. So long old friend.

I got the opportunity to meet this man at my brother's wedding. I enjoyed the time as well as time on the tennis court with my uncle! We lost my father William Thomas Hardman on 4/28/18. Why this family was not close is far beyond my comprehension. My condolences to my uncle's family!

Just found out that George had passed. I tried to call him to catch up and found his phone to be disconnected. Thank God for Google!
I started taking tennis lessons from George in the 90's. Soon we started having lunch after tennis which continued weekly until I moved to VT in 2005. I often think of his favorite coaching term, gorilla, meaning I was too aggressive. He had a gift as an instructor, explaining tennis in terms of physics.
George gave me a very accurate air gauge made for airplane tires. I use it daily to measure my bike tires, which means I will think of him daily.
Barbara and I will miss George, his wit, colorful stories and limericks.

George was a good friend. We enjoyed many discussions about a number of topics. Most of them didn't include tennis. We talked about his life experiences. We would take trips to a number of airports and he would tell me stories from the past. My biggest regret is that that didn't get to see him after he moved to Cedar Crest.
My sincerest condolences to the family. I will miss my friend.

Hardman Family,
You have my deepest sympathy and regrets in your loss.
I can't tell you enough how much I looked forward in visiting
George twice a year in his little tennis workshop downstairs
as he re-strung my two rackets. We would always
talk tennis, Oakland Team tennis, the high school tennis team
I coached and reminiscence about times long gone. I was so glad
that George and some of his fellow contemporaries attended the last
Oakland Team Tennis party this summer so he could be recognized
for the impact he made upon the tennis community. George Hardman
is synonymous with any name in Oakland in regards to the contributions
he made to the town and game.
I will miss my very good friend George Hardman.
Best regards,
Kim Marchese

George, you were a good friend. You were always ready with a story, and you enjoyed the simple things in life like sharing a meal or taking a hike with the dogs. Whenever I stopped by with a racquet to restring, we would have the best talks about so many subjects —- the history of Oakland, airplanes, current events and, of course, tennis. I will miss you!
