Obituary of Lillian T. Makinson

Lillian Theresa Makinson (nee Verba) - (93) of Paramus, NJ, died in her sleep on January 22, 2017 from sepsis. She was born September 23, 1923 in Mineola, Long Island where she lived for over 35 years. A 1941 graduate of Mineola High School, Lillian played JV soccer and Varsity volleyball. She was a civilian employee at Mitchell Air Force Base for 12 years, and then worked for both Long Island Lighting Company and Sperry-Rand Corporation for about 5 years total until she retired to raise her family. Mrs. Makinson greatly enjoyed gardening, and sewing, having made most of her own clothes. Lillian lived in Salt Point, NY for over 36 years. On August 27, 1958 in Williston Park, NY, she married Milton Makinson, who predeceased his bride this past May 2016. They were avid square dancers. Lillian is survived by her three children Linda Asaro of Oakland, NJ, Lewis Makinson of Loudonville, NY and Jean Makinson of Salem, Mass. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph Verba, Sr. and Mary Kropá?ek Verba as well as her brothers, Joseph Jr. and William. Mrs. Makinson leaves behind a great-grandson, Jacob, five loving grandchildren Brooke, Ryan, Joseph, Christine and Justine, and thirteen nieces and nephews. The family will receive loved ones and friends from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, Feb 3rd at Gifford Funeral Home of Richmond, Vt. A funeral service is planned for 11:00am on Saturday, Feb 4th at Gifford's, with a graveside flower laying following at Riverview Cemetery, also of Richmond. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were made by the Oakland Memorial Home of Oakland, NJ.
