Sklarsky, John L 89 of Oakland, NJ. On January 20, 2017. John was born in Simpson, PA in 1927. John resided in Brooklyn, NY prior to enlisting in the United States Navy at 17 During WW II. He received a BS degree in business admin at the age of 45. He was employed by Becton Dickinson & Co of Franklin Lakes, NJ for 35 Years in various capacities, and retired as a packaging engineer for Sterile Disposable Products. John was a member of the Becton Dickinson Alumni Association. He was also employed for 7 ½ yrs. and retired from Mead ox Medicals of Oakland as a packaging engineer. He was a member of American Legion Post 369 of Oakland for over 60 years which he helped build. John was a founding member of Christ the Savior Church in Paramus, NJ in 1960 and served on the parish council for nine years. He was predeceased by his wife Ann of 62 years. Surviving are his loving daughter Susan Harpin of Flagstaff, AZ granddaughter Rachel Ann and son-n-law Paul Harpin. Family and friends can visit the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, NJ on Friday January 27, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday 10AM at Christ the Saviour Church 365 Paramus Road Paramus, NJ. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Johns name to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN. 38105.
