Obituary of Barbara Markoplis

Barbara McKeon Markoplis, a longtime resident of Oakland and Pompton Lakes, passed away on January 11, 2016. Barbara was born in the Army Hospital at Fort Meade MD were her father was stationed after WWII. With her father being a career officer in the army, Barbara her family was always on the move. Living in Maryland, England, New York, New Jersey, Texas, and finally Oakland NJ where father retired from military service, her parents built a home and Barbara attended grammar school and High School. Barbara was employed many years as a nanny for a Pompton Lakes family. She loved her work and her "Family" loved her even more. Her parents John P and Jane McKeon and her older brother Thomas predeceased her. Her son Michael J Markoplis and his companion Courtney, her brother John J McKeon and his wife Rita, James R McKeon and his wife Jane survive with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday, January 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, New Jersey. A Funeral mass will be on Tuesday January 17 at 9:30 am at Saint Marys Church, 17 Pompton Avenue, Pompton Lakes, NJ. Donation may be made in memory of Barbara Markoplis to a charity of your choice.
