Regina Dapkus, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend


Regina Dapkus, 94, of Oakland, NJ finished her earthly journey on March 13th, 2025. Regina was born in 1931 in Darbenai, Lithuania, and immigrated to the United States in 1949, settling with her parents in Hartford, Connecticut.  She attended Mundelein College in Chicago, Illinois and graduated with a degree in Economics.  Regina married the late Algirdas Dapkus on August 20th, 1955.  They lived for many years in Marquette Park and Hinsdale, IL where they were active in the Lithuanian community.  Regina co-owned and operated The Paper House in Wheaton, IL   Upon their retirement in 1999, they moved to Osterville, MA. There she served as a member of the Lithuanian-American Community of Cape Cod.  She also enjoyed listening to opera, reading books and gardening.
 

Regina is survived by her daughter Ausra, son Kestutis and wife Maria and their sons Mykolas and Aleksander, son Andrius and wife Dana and their children Elena, Aras and Lukas.  She is also survived by relatives in America, Germany, and Lithuania.
 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Ave, Osterville, MA on Saturday, March 22nd  at 11:00am.  Burial will immediately follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville, MA.
 

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to the Baltic Jesuit Advancement Project, 1380 Castlewood Drive, Lemont, IL 60439.
