Obituary of Suzanne Lucille Serafini
Please share a memory of Suzanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Suzanne Lucille (Bastien) Serafini of Tuxedo, New York passed away on Saturday March 8, 2025 in Hackensack, New Jersey at the age of 78 after a brief battle with cancer. Born on July 25, 1946 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Germain and Annette Bastien, Suzanne truly lived a wonderful life.
Suzanne grew up in Southbridge, Massachusetts surrounded by a large family. She had countless stories about her Aunts (not ants) and Uncles and many cousins. She graduated from the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing while also earning a Bachelor degree from the New England College. She was most passionate about her time working for the American Red Cross. After a proud career in nursing and a move from Boston to New Jersey, she dedicated her life to raising her children and endlessly volunteering in her community. She was actively involved with the New Jersey Audubon Society and an avid bird watcher. Suzanne’s love of travel brought her to many different parts of the world. Her most often talked about trips were to Morocco, France, Belize and Peru. She was an exceptional cook and would make meals from scratch to share with all who came to her home. It was that and her eye for design that made her the most warm and welcoming hostess.
Suzanne was happiest when spending time with family and friends. Especially her grandchildren whom she completely adored. She was sure to share her creativity with them and made every experience memorable. She was always right down on the floor playing with them. From pan flutes to “washing rocks” to paper airplanes and playing with cars. She had a unique and personal relationship with each one of them.
Suzanne was the beloved mother of Peter (Nichole) Serafini, Emily (Seth) Caruso, and Kate (David) Maccarone. She was also the perfect Mémère to Elizabeth and Vincent Serafini, Genna and Lia Caruso, and Benjamin and Jackson Maccarone. Her kind spirit and warm heart will be immensely missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center or to The American Red Cross.
