Obituary of Maureen Portmann

Maureen A. Portmann, (nee Peltier), of Brick, NJ, formally of Wyckoff, passed peacefully through heaven's gates after a brief illness on Sunday, December 18, 2016, surrounded by her loving family and closest friends. Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Larry and Mickey Peltier of Hackensack, NJ. and was preceded in death by her sister Ann Broaddus Peltier. She is survived by her adoring husband of 49 years, William. She was the devoted mother of Sean Portmann and Sandra Trach and her husband Scott. She cherished her grandchildren, Catherine and William. Dear sister of Michelle and Michael Supper, Michael Peltier, Brian and Kathleen Peltier, Marianne Blackstone-Tabner, and Thomas Peltier. Maureen treasured her goddaughter, Jennifer Rose Supper. She was very close with her cousin, Annemarie and her late husband, James Kurpiel Sr. In addition, she was a wonderful aunt to nieces and nephews, Leah, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Thomas, Nicole, Samantha, Ashley, JJ, Jimmy Jr. and Mary, as well as a great-aunt to several great-nieces and nephew. She particularly cherished her many lifetime friendships. Maureen grew up in Hackensack, NJ, graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi, and Katherine Gibbs in NYC. She was a successful business woman for more than 40 years. Maureen married the love of her life, Bill, in 1967. She cared for others passionately. In addition to caring for her own family, Maureen was the president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Neptune, NJ. She spent her free time tending to the needs of those less-fortunate. She was deeply involved with Holy Innocents Church in Neptune. Maureen was happiest when she was walking along the boardwalk on a beautiful sunny day in Spring Lake, NJ. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass celebrating Maureen's life at 10:00AM on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 787 Franklin Lakes Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Interment will be at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, NJ, immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Maureen A. Portmann to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, C/O Holy Innocents Church, 3455 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, NJ 07753.
