Michael John O’Blake, 62, a beloved father and friend passed away on November 22nd, 2024.
Born on January 24th 1962, in Belleville NJ to Anna and John O’Blake. He graduated from Bloomfield H.S and went on to receive his Bachelors in Business from Montclair State University.
Michael lived his childhood life with family and friends in Bloomfield NJ. He then went on to raise his three children in Oakland NJ and last resided in Bloomingdale NJ. Michael worked as a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance retiring in 2018. Michael was a man of great character, known for his unwavering kindness, humor, dedication and love for his family.
Survived by his loving children, Michael 29(Fiancé Kiera), Nicholas 26(Girlfriend Maddie), and Matthew 23 and the mother of his children Tracey, who will forever cherish the memories and values he instilled in them. Michael developed a love for sports early on in life, with a special fondness for the game of golf. He would spend countless of hours on the course and particularly enjoyed playing with his 3 sons. Beyond golf, Michael enjoyed baseball, hockey, football, and spent a number of years coaching his 3 sons in the Oakland recreation program. Michael also enjoyed hanging out with his best friends, taking selfies, spending quality time with his children, the occasional pint of Guinness and most importantly, more golf. Michael was a devoted father, a true friend and someone who always lived life to the fullest and his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. Michael is predeceased by his beloved parents Anna and John O’Blake. Michael was loved by his family and friends beyond words and will live in our hearts and memories forever. Although we are heartbroken to see Michael has left us we take comfort knowing he is peacefully back with his loving parents who he has missed for many years.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held at Oakland Memorial Home in Oakland, NJ, on Monday December 2nd from 4-7pm.
Our family thanks everyone and is grateful for the amount of love and support we have received during this difficult time. Dad is definitely looking down on all of us with a big smile on his face seeing everyone who will miss him dearly.
