Obituary of John R Williams

John R. Williams, 74, of Kinnelon and Diamond Beach, formerly of Oakland, passed away on October 26, 2024 surrounded by his family.
John was born to Raymond and Stella Williams in Paterson, NJ. He graduated from Indian Hills High School, and went on to obtain Bachelors and Masters degrees from William Paterson University.
He became a police officer for The Oakland Police Department retiring in 1996 with the rank of Sergeant after 25 years of service. He later went on to be the Vice President of Corporate Services Security at CIT in Livingston, NJ, retiring from that career in 2016. He was dedicated to his profession, but also had a passion for spending time at the shore with his family and friends, along with boating, fishing, and playing guitar with his band.
John is predeceased by his parents. John is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his daughter Jessica Williams Bley and husband Jeff, and grandchildren Layla, Mia, and Colton Bley. He is also survived by his sister Raeann Levitt and husband Jeff, along with many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and their families. John was a true family man who adored and was extremely proud of his daughter, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Above all, he loved spending time with them. He was, of course, loved and adored by them as well.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ 07436 from 4-8 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Our Lady of the Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon, NJ 07405.The funeral procession will be departing the Oakland Memorial Home at 9:15 am. Please arrive no later than 8:45 am if you wish to join the procession.
