Obituary of Ronald Charles Slizewski

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ronald Slizewski, 81, passed away in October 2024. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Mary-Clara and Joseph Slizewski, he is survived by his wife, Alda, his son Michael, his daughter-in-law, Audrey, and his two grandchildren, Alexander and Marcus. Ron often expressed that Alda was the love of his life, describing her as an amazing person who brought him both happiness and strength. He was extremely proud of his two grandchildren. He dearly loved his late brother, Andrew (affectionately known as Uncle Andy). Ron cherished all his family, from his own side, Alda’s side, and Audrey's family.

My dad and mom were the perfect team, relying on each other through both tough and good times. They were a true-life couple. My father often said that without Alda, his life would not have been the same.

My father found great joy in witnessing Alexander's achievements in becoming an attorney, Marcus's marriage to Landy, and Marcus's progress in medical school. He enjoyed spending time with them and frequently chatted with his grandkids about life.

My dad’s relationship with me was wonderful. I will deeply miss my daily conversations with him. We discussed everything from current events and technology to personal life, family, friends, old stories, and new happenings. Despite his age, he was always able to offer advice or draw from his vast experience to help me. I truly relied on his wisdom, humor, and opinions.

Growing up, I saw my father take on numerous hobbies and activities. He constantly sought to perfect what he wanted to learn—fly and spin fishing, fly tying, skiing in his younger days, woodworking, cooking, playing with technology, and even becoming a great online poker player. He often shared fond memories of his colleagues at Western Union and AT&T, where he started his career in the late 1960s working on computers. These friendships endured over the years.

There are too many people to list who touched his life, but I'd like to mention some memories he shared with me. He always spoke fondly of his great neighbors, the team at the library where he volunteered teaching computers, his fishing buddies, his gym friends, work colleagues, online poker friends from around the globe, and even his doctors. He was constantly proud of everyone’s life adventures and achievements. If a group was missed, trust me, he highly cherished all family and friends.

Ron, we love you. We will always think of you. We will cherish the moments spent with you in life.
