Beloved Wife and Mother - Longtime volunteer for the Catholic Church

 

Marilyn A. Gorman, 89, of Oakland, NJ passed away peacefully on 15 October 2024. Born in Paterson, NJ on May 26, 1935, to Charles and Mary Abate, she is survived by her loving brother Charles Abate and loving cousin Ethel Paquin.  After graduating high school in Paterson, she worked as a secretary at Marcal Paper Products where she met her eventual husband, the late Philip T Gorman, Sr.  Marilyn is survived by two children, Philip T. Gorman, Jr. (late wife Sharon) and Kenneth Gorman.  Marilyn also is survived by her grandson August Gorman (and spouse Sam Cirulis) and her great grandchild Sage Gorman-Cirulis.

Phil and Marilyn moved from Paterson to Oakland, NJ in 1962 where they lived for the majority of their marriage and where Marilyn continued to reside for the remainder of her life.  It was in Oakland that Marilyn established a strong link with the church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH).  She was a member of the church and a dedicated volunteer for many years.  A memorial service will be held at Oakland Memorial Home on Saturday, 26 October 2024 at 10:30 AM, followed by a memorial mass at OLPH at 12 Noon on 26 October 2024.   If preferred, in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Marilyn's name to the National Brain Tumor Society at https://secure.braintumor.org
