Geraldine Brino of Oakland NJ was born on August 28, 1931, in Oak Park IL and died at the age of 92 on June 21, 2024. Geraldine was the youngest of 3 children to Felix and Ora Provost and was the last surviving member of the family, preceded in death by Phil (d. 1971) and Bob (d. 1990).
She lived in Chicago, IL and had very fond memories of her early life there, highlighted by riding her bike with her friends around the town and going to Cubs games at Wrigley Field with her dad. Geraldine moved briefly to Utah in 1942, where her father died in a tragic trainyard accident. After that, her family moved back to the Chicago area. She attended high school in Prairie du Chien, WI and later relocated to New Jersey with her mother and brothers, where she met the love of her life, Joseph A. Brino. They were engaged in 1956 and married on June 15, 1957.
Joseph and Geraldine settled on Florida Avenue in Paterson, where their two sons, Robert, and William, were born. They built a home in Oakland and moved in on December 1, 1963, where Geraldine lived until her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe (Feb 17, 2016).
She was always very active in her son’s lives and the Oakland community, attending sporting events and serving as Mother’s Club President for several years during the late 1970’s. Gerry was also a very successful salesperson, in retail sales, jewelry and dental lab services, as well home demonstration businesses with Quiltables and Sarah Coventry. Geraldine retired in her early 70’s and enjoyed her hobbies which included ceramics and Glass club. She was fun and loving, and delighted in spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved and was proud of all of them.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert and wife Denise, and William and wife Jeanne, along with six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
