Obituary of Stephanie Rose Hutt

Please share a memory of Stephanie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart to share that Stephanie Rose Hutt (78), died after a long health struggle on Thursday, November 30, 2023 in Rockleigh, NJ.

She was born on April 18, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to Lillian and Arthur Strump. In 1967, she married Marvin Kent Hutt and had three daughters, Allison, Jennifer, and Bari.

Stephanie worked in PR in her early career before becoming a fulltime Mom. A long time Oakland resident, she loved team tennis as well as nature walks and bike riding. Stephanie was ahead of the trends when it came to health food and iced coffee. When she wasn’t talking about ailments or complaining about Marvin she was an excellent listener. She was passionate about gardening, known for her great sense of humor, lover of dogs, cats, parakeets and making herbal vinegars. Stephanie is survived by her husband, children and son-in-laws (Larry, Jeff and Brian) and grandchildren (Ben, Sam, Oliver, Nate, Mallory & Greta).

A memorial service will be held at the Oakland Memorial Home this Sunday, December 3rd from 10:00AM - 1:00 PM.

The family will be sitting shiva on Monday, December 4th at the home of Bari Dunphy (431 Elmwood Avenue, Maplewood NJ) from 3-8pm and Tuesday, December 5th at the home of Jennifer Hirsch (84 Clinton Avenue, South Nyack, NY) from 4-8pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Stephanie's name to the Humane Society:
