Obituary of Hannah Duffy

Please share a memory of Hannah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Hannah Duffy, 80, of Oakland, New Jersey passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023.

Hannah was born in Letterkenny, Donegal, Ireland to Michael and Katherine (Cassy) Duffy on July 17, 1942. She immigrated to the United States in 1959.

She is survived by her daughter Aishling and son James, her brothers Patrick (Chicago, IL) and Hugh (Palm Beach, FL), sister Marie Doherty (Letterkenny, Ireland) and scores of beloved nieces and nephews, so many of whom she treasured as her own. She is preceded in death by her parents Michael and Cassy, brothers Michael, John and Joseph and sisters Bernadette and Kathleen.

Hannah loved being in nature and was always on the go. She was an avid traveler, a lazy birdwatcher and had a green thumb that would make the neighbors jealous.  She enjoyed antiquing, reading, photography, upholstery, knitting and redecorating. She was a runner, an aerobics enthusiast in the 80’s, a hiker and camper who pitched her tent in many national parks throughout the country. She loved her dear friends from her bible study group and the Oakland Senior Center. Most of all, she loved being with her family and friends, and the fantastic stories and roaring laughter that came with it. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
