Obituary of Richard Sparagoski

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard Sparagoski, age 73, passed peacefully on September 14th, 2022.  Beloved husband of Debra. Cherished father of Kim Crisanti and her husband Robert, Mandy Herman and Richard Sparagoski the II. Loving grandfather of Konnor and Christian Kovalcik and Carleigh Crisanti. Dear brother of Ronald Sparagoski and Martin Evanchuck. Son of the late Jean Evanchuck and Walter Sparagoski.

From a very young age, Richard showed a love of cars. He started building engines at J+ J Balancers in Paterson-Gasoline Alley.  This eventually led to the building of his own racecars that ran at Englishtown and Island Dragway. Around this time, he met the love of his life.

He was self-employed at Scep's Sunoco in Paterson and became a certified auto technician. He worked for Exxon in Fair Lawn.  In 1984, he gained employment as an Operating Engineer, Local 825 at New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority (Meadowland's), holding the title of Shop Steward.

Richard's other passions were gangster movies and watching the NY Giants and Jets while lounging in his recliner chair, drinking a can of Budweiser.

Those who knew him well, will tell you Richard was a family man. He loved hard and always made sure he provided for his family. He could make anyone laugh and had a heart of gold.

He will be dearly missed and forever loved by family and friends.
