Obituary of William Derringer

William Derringer, 85, of Ringwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2022. Raised initially in Guttenberg, NJ, Bill moved to Dumont, NJ as a child and graduated from Dumont High School. Later he and his wife, Carol, moved to their lakeside home in Ringwood, NJ, to raise their family. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, his parents, William and Arline, and his brother, Harry. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted children, Kathleen of Sparta, NJ; Kerry and her husband Arthur of Morristown, NJ; William Kevin of Clinton, NJ; and Colleen and her husband Joseph of Mooresville, NC. Bill was incredibly proud of his five grandsons, Ryan, Cody, Finnegan, Daniel, and Jameson, and they will miss him dearly. His passing is also very much felt by his nieces and nephews, extended family, and loving friends.

After high school, Bill proudly served in the Army National Guard. Bill spent his career in construction and facilities management. Additionally, he worked at both the Star-Ledger and Bergen Record newspapers. Bill was active in his community, the Skyline Lakes Homeowners Association, Ringwood Jaycees, and St. Catherine RC Church Knights of Columbus, to name a few. A lifelong railroad buff, Bill enjoyed train travel, railroad history, and model trains. Each year he embraced his role as "Santa" on the Tri-State Railway Historical Society's Christmas train. Additionally, Bill loved spending time with his family at the lake, swimming, boating, and making memories. Bill will always be remembered for his friendliness, kindness, smiling face, and willingness to lend a hand.'
