Obituary of George John Vallone

George John Vallone, age 94, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. He was a longtime resident of Oakland with his wife of 54 years Marilyn Vallone. George was the beloved father to his five children: his daughter Victoria and her husband Dominick Vallo, his daughter Jennifer and her husband Royce Knight, his daughter Lauren and her husband Michael, his son Michael and his wife Pam, and his son Keith. He was a devoted grandfather to his ten grandchildren: Olivia and Nicholas Vallo; Carter, Skylar, Riley and Mason Knight; Hope and Hunter Brecher; and Nate and Logan Vallone. George was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised there with his extended family in a three-story house. He shared many stories of making homemade wine as well as being a scrappy and savvy youngster. At the age of 16, he joined the Merchant Marines and then went to Europe and served in Amy in his 20s. It was there he learned to speak many languages which inspired his love for travel. This passion continued all his life. He and Marilyn took many vacations together to Europe and especially enjoyed going to Kiawah Island, SC with his family. As a careerman until he retired at the age of 72, George work at Midland Insurance Company for many years and finished his career at AIG in NYC. After retirement to keep active, George worked at the Darlington Golf Course. He was a devote Catholic member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and an active member of the Oakland Knights of Columbus for many years. Some of George’s favorite activities were playing golf, reading James Patterson and John Grisham novels, and watching evening Jeopardy with his wife. Although he lived a fulfilled and blessed 94 years here, his family and friends wish he had just a few more years to spend with them.
