Dr. John W. Greenfield, 75, of Oakland, New Jersey passed away suddenly and peacefully on August, 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on September, 4, 1940 in Hackensack, New Jersey to the late Dr. Arthur and Jane Greenfield (nee Van Saun). He attended Blair Academy and graduated in 1958. He went on to earn a degree from Hamilton College in 1962. In 1966 he earned a DMD from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1966, he was commissioned as a Captain in the US Air Force and served two years at Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine where he began his dental career. John continued his dental career in private practice in Teaneck, New Jersey, then moved his practice to Hackensack, New Jersey, retiring in 2015.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda (nee Williams), devoted father of John and his wife Christine, and Kendra and her husband Tom Zalewski, and was the adored grandfather of Emma, Ian and Sam and his trusted and faithful companion a Bernese Mountain Dog named Linus. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Rose, of Stamford, CT and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter, Tracy Lynne, his brother Robert and his wife Diane, his niece Susan McCue (nee Greenfield), and nephew John Greenfield.
John was very passionate for the game of golf and the NY Giants. He was an avid skier with his family. He was a longtime member of the Hackensack Golf Club. He was also a member and treasurer of the Kennel Club of Northern New Jersey. Visiting will be held on Friday August 12, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 13, 2016 at 9:00 AM at the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland.NJ
