Ronald J. Furnbach Sr., 82, of Ringwood, NJ passed away on November 11, 2021. He was the husband of the one and only love of his life, Rosanne (nee LoCurto) for a very happy 61 years. They met in Erskine Lakes, Ringwood where Ron was born. After they married, Ron along with his brother, Marty, built their first home on Fern Place in 1960. Ron and Rosanne later moved to their forever home in the Stonetown section of Ringwood. Ron was the most cherished father of Ronald J. Furnbach Jr. of Coconut Creek, FL and Laurie and her husband Andrew Ricciardi of North Haledon, NJ. Ron was the loving grandfather of Joseph and Jasen Ricciardi and their girlfriends, Nicole Napolitano and Gabriella Shank, respectively.
Ron’s family always came first. He put his wife, children and grandchildren’s needs before his own. He was happiest doing everything with his family and close friends. Ron was known to always be willing to lend a helping hand; he was someone you could depend on and trust.
Ron shared an unforgettable and special bond with each member of his family. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his loving parents, Joseph and Mary Furnbach. His dad taught him to work hard and his mom fed him well, as he always said his mom’s cooking was the best! Ron was the second youngest of six children. He was the dear brother of the late Marion Potash of Oakland, NJ, the late Joseph Furnbach of Ringwood, NJ, Caroline Menedez of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Martin Furnbach of New Hampshire and the late Patricia Kamensky of Little Egg Harbor, NJ.
Ron started pumping gas right after high school at the age of 17. He learned the mechanic trade and went on to build his own gas station at 28. He was the owner and operator of Ronnie’s Exxon on Skyline Drive in Ringwood for over 30 years. Ron was also a proud member of the Ringwood Volunteer Fire Department for many years at the Erskine Lakes Firehouse. He went on to achieve the rank of Assistant Chief.
Ron had a love for cars, especially his ’57 Chevy convertible and numerous Cadillacs through the years. He enjoyed NASCAR, watching the New York Yankees, fishing and snowmobiling. He also loved caring for his farm, horses and garden. Most of all, Ron enjoyed his trips to the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City with his family!
Ron was known for his big blue eyes and warm, welcoming smile. He was the most loving, kind, honest, generous, hardworking, exceptional husband, father, grandfather and friend you could ever ask for. To know Ron was to love him - he was truly the best!
