Obituary of Roberto Dacal
Please share a memory of Roberto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Roberto Dacal passed away peacefully on Friday September 17, 2021 just shy of his 90th birthday.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1931, Roberto learned early of adversity, losing his Dad before the age of two. He went on to work in Argentina’s Central Post Office Investigations Unit where he had the opportunity to travel to many different parts of the country. He and his family arrived in the United States in 1971 where he worked as a lathe operator. They lived in Lodi until 1989, moving to Mahwah where he and his wife resided for many years. Early in 2021, they relocated to the assisted living facility at the Allendale Community for Senior Living.
Roberto was a passionate tango aficionado. As a young man, he was a singer in a tango orchestra and was an excellent tango dancer as well. He met his sweetheart, Elvira, at a tango club. Roberto was well read and loved sports, politics, and economics. He enjoyed watching soccer, tennis, basketball, and boxing. He was always up for a good debate and took pleasure in analyzing soccer games.
Beloved husband of 65 years to Elvira (nee Tulli). Loving father to Claudio Dacal and his wife Judy and Alejandra Dacal Vitone. Adored grandfather to three grandchildren, Matthew Dacal, Andrew Vitone, and Michelle Dacal, each holding a very special place in his heart and giving him some of his greatest joy watching them grow up.
Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday September 21, 2021 from 6-8pm at Oakland Memorial Home in Oakland, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, honor Roberto by making a donation in his name to the American Diabetes Association. Roberto’s fierce spirit will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
