Obituary of Eileen S Lees

Oakland – Eileen Lees (nee Brungard) 99, passed away peacefully at home January 21, 2021 of natural causes, attended by family members. Born on April 1, 1921 in Paterson NJ, Eileen is survived by her daughter Patricia Herrrmann of Modesto CA and her son George and his wife Carol of Wayne NJ. Grandchildren Mark Herrmann and spouse Michele of Modesto CA, Jamie Green and husband Chris of Ripon CA. Great Grandchildren Asher and Lilly Green and Brianna Herrmann. Also many nieces and nephews. Eileen spent a good portion of her childhood in Rio De Janeiro as a result of her father’s career as a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. She graduated East Side High in Paterson, married George Lees May 25th 1947, and in 1964 began a 20+ year career in retail with Sterns/Macy’s in Wayne where she managed the prestigious Menswear Department until her retirement. Eileen was a consummate homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and baking. But her real compassion was her garden and gardening. She was a kind, compassionate and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband George (married 59 years), Sisters Evelyn, Sylvia and brother Don. Because of Covid19, Eileen requested a repast be held at a future date. A lover of animals domestic and wild, donations made to animal shelters or conservation organizations are kindly appreciated.
