Obituary of Joseph M Macalle

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph “Joe” Michael Macalle, 62, of Oakland, NJ passed away Tuesday, November 24th, 2020 at his home in Toms River, NJ. Joseph was born on May 3rd, 1958, to Joseph Pasquale and Rose Marie in Paterson, NJ. Joe was an incredibly gifted cabinet maker and wood worker who spent more than two decades mastering the centuries-old craft of woodworking at Center Lumber in Paterson, NJ. He was also an incredible cook, taught by his grandfather Joseph (Guiseppe), a native of Benevento, Italy, who owned a small corner store in Paterson. Joe considered his grandfather a hero and inspirational role-model, and it was this relationship that motivated him to always find time to cook family recipes and share stories. Joe spent his free time fishing on the rivers of the tristate area alongside his playful dog Puddles. Joe met the love of his life, the beautiful Mary Susan (Kolenut) Macalle in Paterson and wed on October 18, 1986 at St. Anthony’s Church in Hawthorne, NJ. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary and beloved father Joseph Pasquale. Joe is survived by his five children Allie, Joey, Nick, Meghan, and Dana and his mother Rose, as well as his five siblings Donna, Stephanie, Charlene, Michael, and Helene. Gravesite services will be held at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ, at 11am on Wednesday December 2 2020. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Joe’s family members Cole & Myles Van Splinter, who unexpectedly lost their father Chris Van Splinter recently. https://www.gofundme.com/f/cole-amp-myles-van-splinter.
