Who could forget such a warm, loving couple?
And Tom? “His life was gentle, and the elements so mixed in him that all Nature might stand up and say,’This was a man.’ “

Tom was truly a loving, kind, and supportive person. He often attended our foundation, Family Reach, golf outings in memory of our daughter, Kristine. Needless to say, his golf game was the envy of many.
Knowing Tom was a joy. We extend our heartfelt wishes to his family, of whom he was so proud.

My memories of Tom go back to the 1950's...We went to high school in Wilkes-Barre at the same time. Tom graduated in the class of 1954 with the boy who was destined to become my husband, John (Hank) Hanlon. I was in the class of 1955 and the classes at St. Mary's High School were small...90 - 100 kids, usually; consequently, we got to know almost everyone who attended the school during the time that we were there. Hank and Tom were good friends; Tom was a really good basketball player and the Senior class president. When Hank and I married in 1960, he was one of our ushers. He used to come and visit us in Baltimore when we lived there.
My Hank died in 1997; may they renew their friendship in Heaven. God bless you, Tommy Hoban, knowing you is one of the happy memories of my life. Iva

Mary Ann (Andalora) Hutcheson posted a condolence

I met "Mr. Hoban" at my 1973 interview at New Milford Middle School. I was fresh out of college and losing hope of getting a teaching job as they were hard to come by that year. I knew upon meeting him that he was someone for whom I would enjoy working. He hired me and I enjoyed four years at New Milford Middle before leaving to get married.
He was always supportive, kind, and funny. Whatever we needed as teachers to make our job more creative or worthwhile, he was there. He always attended any class activities to which he was invited, and the children loved when he watched their plays or little "shows." In our case, he came to watch my sixth grade class do a television show, dressed as Egyptians, the culmination of an ongoing project they did that year.
I recently found his name and hoped I could get in touch with him again. I am so sad that I missed the opportunity to talk with him. However, his spirit and warmth, sensitivity and kindness were the support a brand new teacher needed that scary first year in the classroom. It helped me complete a thirty-year stint in the profession until I retired. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
I will never forget him.

Mary Ann, thank you so much for taking the time to pen this. Dad's retirement dinner many years ago is etched in my memory. The way so many teachers gushed to us about working with Dad, made us so proud. He loved his teachers and students and had a wonderful career. Best to you and yours- Dave Hoban and family.

Tom, like many of the faculty I got to know at the New Milford School District, was a good man and good soul. He was a dedicated educator whether as a teacher, a principal, or coach. He will be missed by all who knew him especially his buddies at 10+.

Dominic, thanks alot for taking the time to send this through. Dad spoke often about the 10+ group and many other fruits of his time spent in New Milford. Dad loved his teachers and students and his retirement party was one of the proudest moments of our lives. Best to you and yours. -Dave Hoban and family.
