William James Fischer, of Oakland, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the age of 80 years. He was born in Paterson, NJ on March 8, 1939 to Charles and Katherine (Dundas) Fischer. Beloved husband of 58 years to Patricia (Kenny) Fischer.

Tractor-trailer driver for ABF Freight where he received many safety awards before retiring in 2001. He enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes and surf fishing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Kind and generous, Bill’s primary focus was the happiness and security of his family. He was the devoted father of Patricia and William “Rich” Cosgrove, Nancy and Victor Degro, Tracy and the late Donald Campbell, and Barbara and Anthony “Tony” Allegretta.

He was a proud grandfather to Sara Felicetti and her husband Dominick, William Cosgrove and his wife Harpreet, James Degro, Brandon Degro and his fiancée Courtney Greulich, Edgardo Degro, Jessica Degro and her husband Danny Melendez, Josephine Campbell, Charlotte Cruz and her husband Matthew, Donald Campbell Jr., Kenneth Campbell, Anthony Allegretta, Courtney Allegretta, Thomas Allegretta, Michael Allegretta, and Steven Allegretta.

Blessed with great-grandchildren Thomas Felicetti, Abel and Arielle Cruz, Victor Degro Cruz, Zulmarie and Sinai Degro, and Daniel Melendez.

Will be sadly missed by sister-in-law, Karen Kenny and her partner Steve Baraka, nephews, niece, and treasured lifetime friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 1pm-5pm at Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ 07436.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Seeing Eye, 10 Washington Valley Rd., Morristown, NJ 07960 or Brain Injury Alliance, 825 Georges Rd., North Brunswick, NJ 08902 are preferred.
