George Carlin, 81, of Oakland, NJ, passed away Tuesday, March 12th. He is survived by his adoring wife of 49 years, Barbara Carlin (nee Murray). In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his son Thomas and daughter-in-law Christy, son Timothy and daughter-in-law Donna, Son George Jr. (Billy), grandchildren Emma and Drew, and countless friends and extended family members.The son of Thomas and Margaret (nee Kennedy) Carlin, he was born in Brooklyn and graduated from St. Francis Prep High School and attended St. Francis College. He was a computer programmer, project manager and eventually a DBA for New York Life, Bradford, Paine Webber, and Mellon. After retiring, he worked as a school crossing guard in Oakland at Dogwood School. Additionally, he was an usher at the 10AM Sunday Mass at OLPH for almost 40 years and was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus.George was a loving husband and father who had a great sense of humor. He was devoted to others throughout his life and was always willing to do anything for his family and friends. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.The wake will be at Oakland Memorial Home from 2-4PM and 7-9PM on March 14th, and theFuneral Liturgywill be at 10AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oakland. (Everyone please meet at Church) In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
