Obituary of Victor Joseph Haslett
Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Victor Joseph Haslett, age 93, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. “Pops” as he was known to everyone was a kind, caring, wonderful person who had a wickedly dry sense of humor and who had many friends who will miss him greatly. At the tender age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Ranger aircraft carrier through, as he would say, the “Big War” WWII. He always kept in touch with friends he had met while serving on the Ranger including several he met in Norway during one of the Ranger’s reunions. He was a gifted mechanic but was Mr. Fix It to all of us. No job was too big. Pops is at peace with his wonderful loving wife Helen and son Joey and is survived by his daughters Mary Haslett, Kathy Haslett, JoAnn Haslett, Denise Gulan (husband Dieter), Elaine Maxwell; and sons Mike Haslett and John Haslett (wife Ellen). He will also be missed greatly by granddaughters Kate Newkirk, Amber Haslett and grandsons Ryan Maxwell, Jason Maxwell and Victor Haslett. Friends can visit family on Thursday, February 28th from 5:00pm – 8:00 pm at Oakland Memorial Home with Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oakland at 9:30 am on Friday, March 1st. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated. Rest in peace Pops.
