Ethel Ruggiero, 88, of Oakland, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2019 at Van Dyk Assisted Living in Hawthorne, NJ. She is preceded in death by her husband Carmen.
Visitation will be held at Oakland Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, February 25, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Oakland, NJ on Tuesday, February 26, at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
Ethel was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on January 25, 1931. She moved to Paterson to work at the silk factories in her teens where she met and married Carmen Ruggiero. They moved to Oakland in 1956 and raised three daughters, Kathryn Kolstad, Alice Mattera, and Ethel Warren.
Ethel loved to cook for family and enjoyed Sunday dinners at her house. Ethel was the life of the party where ever she went. She spent the last two years at Van Dyk’s Assisted living facility.Ethel is survived by her three daughters: Kathryn Kolstad, husband Kenny of Glen Rock, NJ. Alice Mattera of Pompton Plains, NJ and Ethel Warren, husband James, of Medford Lakes, NJ.Grandchildren: Jim Warren Jr, Nicole Hill, partner Thomas Mulé, Robert Warren, Amy Dempsey, husband Shawn, K.C. Kolstad, wife Corrinda, Nicholas Mattera, wife Sheila.Great-Grandchildren: Jenna, Kayla, Jayden Pala, Tyler, Bryson, Rhiannon, Alex, Cody, Ryan, Madison, and Brooke. Brothers: Carl Babb, wife Betty and David Babb, wife Cheryl. Sister: Nancy DeRosa and many nieces and nephews. Ethel is preceded in death by sister Helen Believe.
