Gordnick, Louise Cecelia (nee LaBrie), 85 of Oakland on November 23rd She was born and raised in West New York and lived in Oakland for the past 58 years. She is predeceased by her beloved husband John (deceased 2008). They were married for 60 years. She leaves behind a sister, Eleanor. Two brothers, Henry and William are deceased. A devoted mother, she also leaves behind 2 children, Diane & Jim (son-in-law) and John, and 5 loving grandchildren Stephen & Allison (granddaughter-in-law), Nicole, Michael, Christopher, and Justin, along with 16 nieces and nephews. Louise was very active in sports having served as captain of the Oakland Women's Tennis League of Bergen County for many years. Also, she was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Oakland and was a member of its Altar Guild, as well as involved with many other activities. She worked for AT&T for 7 years. Having always wanting to be a nurse, she returned to school at age 48 and received a nursing degree in 1979. Before retiring, she spent the last 15 years as a hospice nurse. Visitation will be on November 25th at the Oakland Memorial Home330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, NJ from 7-9 PM. On November 26th, there will be a 10:00 am service at Messiah Lutheran Church 228 Ramapo Valley Road followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Messiah Lutheran Church, First Aid Squad of Oakland, or Vitas Hospice.
