Josephine Pescatore (Jo) (nee Lorino) was born on the Island of Salina, Province of Messina Italy on June 30, 1944. She immigrated to America with her family when she was 8 years old, finally settling in Garfield, New Jersey. She became a beautician working in Fairlawn, New Jersey. At age 15, Jo met her future husband John Pescatore at his father's grocery store in Paterson NJ. They married 3 years later residing in Oakland, New Jersey until her husband's retirement from the Bergen County Police Department and the Bergen County Office of Highway Safety in 1997. Upon retirement, they moved to Manahawkin, New Jersey. Jo was a parishioner of Saint Mary's Parish and a longtime volunteer at Father Ken's Kitchen. She loved gardening, reading and cooking for her large extended family. Surviving is her husband John Pescatore of Manahawkin N.J. three children Vicki Pescatore of Oakland, NJ John and his wife Renee Pescatore of Holmdel, NJ and Michael Pescatore and his friend Carol Granato of Oakland, NJ. Five Brothers Sam of Australia, John of Fl, Tony of Fairlawn, NJ Victor of Boonton, NJ and Jerry Lorino of Manahawkin, NJ. Two sisters Marina Lorino of Sicily, and Lucy Hardwick of Boonton, NJ. Cherished grandmother of Katie, Sarah, Nicholas, Ava and Ryan. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to The Cancer Institute of New Jersey Foundation, 120 Albany Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901 (Labeled as a donation for blood cancer research), who with much love, understanding and excellent care, gave her an extra five and a half years of an active and fruitful life. She spent those precious years visiting family in Australia and Italy as well as cruising the South Pacific, Mediterranean, Hawaii and the Caribbean. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Wednesday May 1, 2013 at St Mary of the Pines R.C. Church Manahawkin NJ at 11:30 AM.
